BUS Scheme £9,000 Uplift Information from July 21st

Here is an update from the BUS " Boiler Upgrade Scheme" webinar with OFGEM yesterday, here are the key points:

Applications for the £9,000 uplift in BUS Scheme grant has to be made after 21 ^st July
Property owners will have to provide proof that the heating system which is being replaced is powered by LPG or Oil with either bills or fuel purchase receipts and possibly photographs of the existing system.
All Self-build properties are not eligible for this £9,000 Grant uplift but will still receive £7,500 . - This up-lift is in relation to rising oil and LPG costs from the conflict in the Middle East as explained by DESNZ "Department of Energy Security and Net Zero" representative.
Any BUS applications made before July 21 ^st will receive the standard £7,500 grant only (Oil/Gas replacement)
Full guidance for this uplift will be available from July 1 ^st according to OFGEM

Changes coming to the BUS "Boiler Upgrade" Scheme in 2026

Ofgem has announced changes which are coming in 2026 for the current BUS scheme here is a list of the changes:

Plans to increase the total grant value from £7,500 to £9,000 on off-gas grid properties heated by oil or LPG - The change is NOT in effect yet but is proposed to come into effect from July 2026 - Please contact us for further details if your property meets this criteria.
EPC Requirements - Properties without a valid EPC can now provide alternative evidence - such as a recent utility bill and photos of the existing heating system
Heat pumps may be installed alongside non-fossil fuel supplementary heating appliances as part of multi-technology installations.

Warm Homes Plan Launched

On January 20th, 2026 the UK Government launched the "Warm Homes Plan" to upgarde the nations home, help families cut their energy bills and tackle fuel poverty offering measures such as Heat pumps. solar PV panels and battery storage on Government backed zero to low interest loans depending on various eligibility criteria.
